This mini pottery wheel travels more than I do

Studio life is not for Jon Almeda, who’s miniature pottery takes its inspiration from nature. So he made a tiny, portable, pottery wheel and brings it to cool places.

Jon’s been working in miniature for 15 years and says that it’s challenging, often requiring experimentation with clay and making his own tools. I’ve included two of his tiniest, finished pieces below:

All three pieces raku fired with different glazes. The one on the right is fired a 3rd time with 22k gold luster.
