Inside Jens Trenkle’s miniature car junkyard

German artist Jens Trenkle buys broken 1/18 scale diecast models and breaks them even more. He sands them down, then adds acrylic paint and natural materials like moss and dirt. When the cars are sufficiently rusty-looking, he adds them to his junkyard diorama. Then he photographs them, and unless you knew they were miniatures, you’d definitely think they were real.
